Jing begins her paintings guided by intuition, allowing emotions to flow freely with the paint. At certain points, she introduces a subject matter to ground her emotions, ensuring the painting is not overwhelmed by the intensity. The subject matter acts as a vehicle that carries her thoughts and a bridge that connects her spirit to the canvas. Colour also plays a vital role, carrying an emotional depth that’s beyond words, a thread that weaves the web of resonance.
Her art is influenced by the simplicity, fluidity and unique perspective of traditional Chinese painting. She longs to express herself through the minimal yet powerful brushstroke, believing that simplicity creates the space needed for self-reflection. Through her work, she shares how she lives and understands the world through her eyes and hands, while encouraging both herself and the viewer to maintain a distance. In doing so, she hopes to connect herself with both the painting and the viewer, letting them resonate in their own time.
